Remind me again; why are we resorting to using pickaxes of all things?

I already sent a report to R&D, but here's the short story; The crystals seem to have some sort of natural harmonic resonance to them. It just so happens, by design or divine provenance, that it aligns with the frequency of our mechanised drills. Have you read Incident Report #54?

No I haven't; What's the deal with that?

So we had a tunnel collapse on us. We'd had some minor tremors earlier in the day, so we sent in the laborers first to feel it out. Turns out it was the right call. Whole place came down on top of them almost immediately. It would have been hilarious if that mining machine wasn't so expensive.

How crass, care you nothing for the plight of the laborers? The sanctity of human life?

Of course I do; the preservation of human life is my utmost directive. Which is why we sent in those sub-humans first. Barely human.

Agreed; Barely human. I've got to hit the road anyway, I'll stop by later. I've got to oversee a shuttle run to Hipper before the storm shuts us off.
